Council has undertaken infrastructure and streetscape improvement works within Shasta Avenue and Russet Road, Ringwood East.
The improvement works consist of the following elements:
Tree renewal works were included as part of this project along Russet Rd, Ringwood East. Street tree renewal aims to renew the street tree canopy where the streetscape is underperforming due to the age or condition of the current street trees.
A number of underperforming trees with a low useful life expectancy have been removed. Twelve new trees along the north and south sides of the street have also been planted. The new trees are better suited to the existing street conditions and will create a more appealing streetscape over time.
Shasta Avenue and Russet Road roadways have undergone asphalt re-sheeting works, to improve the surface of the road.
Additionally to Shasta and Russet Road, Northwood Street and some surrounding streets are to be completed as part of Council’s 2024/2025 asphalt road rehabilitation and re-sheeting program. The wider community will be notified of these works closer to the construction date.
In line with Maroondah's Public Lighting Policy two new street lights have been installed on existing electrical poles.
