Gender Equality Action Plan 2021-25

Maroondah’s first ;Gender Equality Action Plan 2021-25 is our plan for embedding gender equality in the workplace. The Plan outlines key strategies and initiatives to support our commitment to gender equality.

The Gender Equality Action Plan was developed under the Gender Equality Act (Vic) 2020 and in accordance with the guidance provided by the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector.

Gender Equality in the Public Sector

The Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector requires Council to report on their progress towards gender equality in their workplace and in their public policies, programs and services every two years.

The Gender Equality in the Public Sector Progress Audit Report requires Council to:

  • complete a progress audit to collect, compare, and submit information about workplace gender equality
  • submit a progress report, drawing on audit data and other information, to demonstrate whether Council’s actions are achieving positive change towards workplace gender equality

The reporting period dates were 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2023. Council submitted their report in February 2024, with a compliant assessment outcome for both reports received by the Commission in October 2024. These outcomes were presented to the Council Audit and Risk Committee in December 2024.
