Rates

Council rates are a contribution each ratepayer makes towards the cost of maintaining community infrastructure and the community services provided by Council. Rates revenue, along with Council's other income, is used to provide services and facilities for the enjoyment, benefit and safety of the whole community.

Rate and Valuation Notices are usually sent between July and September each year.

You can pay your rates in a number of ways, including online, credit card, cheque and direct debit. Find out payment dates for rates, how to pay, late fees, and concessions.

Property valuation and calculating rates

Maroondah City Council aims to charge ratepayers equitably - by using property values to fairly distribute rates charges.

Difficulty paying your rates

If you are having difficulty paying your rates, you are encouraged to get in touch with Council.

Pensioner Rate Assistance Scheme

If you hold a current concession card and live at the property shown on your notice, you may be eligible for a rebate on your rates. Find information about eligibility and how to apply.

State Government Fire Services Property Levy

The Fire Services Property Levy is collected through Council rates. Therefore, all property owners contribute to funding Victoria’s fire services, not just those with adequate insurance.
