Apply for an RMAC parking permit
Am I eligible for a resident parking permit?
Only residents living in single dwelling properties (this does not include units, townhouses, apartments, etc.) will be eligible to purchase resident parking permits, in line with the principles of the Ringwood MAC.
All residents within the residential area of the MAC (as defined in the Ringwood MAC Parking Permit Policy) are eligible to purchase visitor parking voucher booklets.
What types of parking permits are available?
Parking permit options include a combination of the following:
- Single vehicle registration resident parking permit (maximum of 3 available per property)
- Visitor parking voucher booklets.

Where can I park?
Parking permits will be associated with a specific area surrounding the applicant’s property. The parking permit will contain specific area or street information corresponding to information provided on parking signage giving guidance to where vehicles with parking permits can park.
What restrictions do the parking permits exempt me from?
Parking permits provide exemption from parking restrictions that apply on local Council roads for which they are issued. They do not provide exemption from restrictions that limit parking to one hour or less, to No Stopping or other prohibited parking spaces or areas, including clearways, loading zones and other areas in which parking of vehicles is prohibited under the Victorian Road Traffic Regulations.
I own a property within the Ringwood MAC, but reside outside the area. Can I still apply for a parking permit?
No. Property owners who do not reside at the property are not eligible to participate in the scheme.
I live in a townhouse within the Ringwood MAC. Can I still get a resident parking permit?
No. Only single dwelling properties (i.e. not units, apartments, townhouses etc) within the Ringwood MAC and eligible surrounding residential streets are eligible for resident parking permits. However all residential properties within the Ringwood MAC are eligible to purchase visitor parking voucher booklets.

What should I do if I move properties?
If you move out of the Ringwood MAC please contact Council on 1300 88 22 33 and ensure that your parking permit is destroyed.
If you move properties, but remain within the Ringwood MAC, please fill out a
change of details form or contact Council on 1300 88 22 33 to update your details and verify your continued eligibility for the Ringwood MAC parking permit scheme.
How many residential parking permits am I eligible for?
Under the Ringwood MAC Parking Permit Policy, single dwelling properties may be eligible for a maximum of three resident parking permits per property based on the shortfall of onsite parking spaces.
For example, a property that has 3 vehicles permanently associated with it that features a single carport and one driveway space may be eligible for one resident parking permit. Whereas a property that has 2 vehicles permanently associated with it and features a double garage and one driveway space may not be eligible for any resident parking permits.
What is onsite parking?
Properties that have constructed garages, driveways or carports etc are considered to have onsite parking, regardless of how they are being used.
How much do resident parking permits cost?
The costs for both the 6 and 12 month resident parking permits, based on the number of parking permits already associated with a property, are in Fees and charges.
How do visitor parking vouchers work?
Visitor parking voucher booklets contain 18 vouchers (12 x 4-hour vouchers and 6 x daily vouchers). A maximum of 1 booklet will be issued per property per month. Visitor parking vouchers will not feature expiry dates and can be kept until they are needed. Each voucher can only be used once and the date and time that it is used must be marked on it with permanent marker or pen. Vouchers marked in pencil or altered in any way will be considered invalid and the offending vehicle will receive an infringement notice.
Visitor parking voucher booklets can be purchased using the Ringwood MAC Visitor Parking Voucher application form. The booklets can be purchased over the counter at Service Centre locations, they can be purchased with cash, cheque, eftpos or credit card and the visitor parking voucher booklets will be issued on the spot.
Once a visitor parking voucher booklet has been issued, refunds will not be available.
How do I renew my resident parking permit each year?
Letters will be sent to existing resident parking permit holders in June of each year, asking residents to confirm if they still require a residential parking permit. Resident parking permits will expire in July each year regardless of when the parking permit was purchased.
Why am I required to supply supporting evidence with my parking permit application?
The number of drivers wishing to park within the Ringwood MAC is greater than the number of available parking spaces. The scheme’s proof of residency requirements ensure that parking permits are only issued to those eligible residents that reside within the Activities Centre.
What proof of residency do I need to supply with my parking permit application?
Please provide a copy of two documents featuring the applicant’s name and also the property address. These documents could include:
- electricity account
- gas account
- telephone account
- water account
- lease or tenancy agreement
- drivers licence (front and back)
- current rent receipt
- letter of tenancy from your real estate agent/landlord, etc.
When submitting a document as supporting evidence, how current should it be?
The document must be the most recent issued and no more than three months old.
I have recently moved into my property and have not yet received a document containing my address. What other proof of residency documentation can I supply with my parking permit application?
If you are unable to supply a document with your current address we will also accept one of the following documents:
- welcome letter from your utility company (for new residents only)
- a Statutory Declaration.
Do I need to submit the required documentation or can these documents be sighted instead?
If you have concerns about providing copies of the required documentation, you may apply for the parking permit in person at Council Offices, where the required documentation can be sighted by Council officers.
I own my vehicle. What proof of vehicle ownership do I need to supply with my parking permit application?
A copy of your current vehicle registration certificate showing applicant’s name and vehicle registration number for which the parking permit is to be issued. Each time you change vehicle(s) you will need to fill out a Change of Address/Details form or contact Council on 1300 88 22 33. A copy of the new vehicle registration certificate must be included with your change request.
My vehicle is on loan. What proof of vehicle ownership do I need to supply with my parking permit application?
A Statutory Declaration from the vehicle owner certifying the vehicle has been provided on a temporary basis to you. You must also submit a copy of the vehicle’s registration certificate showing the vehicle owner as the person who completed the Statutory Declaration.
As a Statutory Declaration is a legal document, you must include the original Statutory Declaration with your parking permit application and keep a copy for your records. The original Statutory Declaration should be mailed to Council and not faxed or emailed.
My vehicle is a company owned vehicle. What proof of vehicle ownership do I need to supply with my parking permit application?
An original letter on company letterhead signed by a company director/fleet manager confirming the vehicle details and that vehicle has been allocated to you for use.
I use a company vehicle but it changes frequently so I cannot nominate a vehicle registration number. Is there another parking permit option available to me?
Yes. If you use a company vehicle that changes frequently you may be eligible for a fleet parking permit. You must meet strict eligibility criteria before this parking permit can be issued. Please contact the Council’s Local Laws team on 1300 88 22 33 for further information.
I recently bought my vehicle and do not have a copy of the vehicle registration certificate. What other proof of vehicle ownership can I supply with my parking permit application?
If you are unable to supply a copy of the vehicle’s current registration certificate we will also accept one of the following documents showing the applicant’s name and vehicle registration number for which the parking permit is to be issued:
- a copy of the vehicle’s Bill of Sale
- a copy of the vehicle’s Transfer of Registration.
My vehicle registration certificate is not in my name. Will I still be able to apply for a parking permit?
Yes, however you must provide a Statutory Declaration from the registered owner confirming you have personal use of the vehicle while you reside at the nominated address. You must also submit a copy of the vehicle’s registration certificate showing the vehicle owner as the person who completed the Statutory Declaration.
As a Statutory Declaration is a legal document, you must include the original Statutory Declaration with your parking permit application and keep a copy for your records. The original Statutory Declaration should be mailed to Council and not faxed or emailed.
You will be required to provide a Statutory Declaration and a copy of the vehicle’s registration certificate each time the registered owner replaces the vehicle and continues to offer the replacement for your personal use.
