Residential and visitor parking permits - RMAC

Parking permits allow some residents and visitors to park in some streets in the Ringwood Metropolitan Activity Area that are usually restricted.

Visitor Parking Permits are available to all Ringwood MAC residents, and can be bought in books of 18-single use vouchers.

Resident Parking Permits are available to residents that live in a single detached-dwelling property in the Ringwood MAC. Residents living in apartments, townhouses, flats or units are not entitled to a residential parking permit unless there is specific exemption in writing from Council.

Why is access to residential permits limited?

The Ringwood Metropolitan Activity Area allows for a higher density of development and is centred around public transport options.  There is not enough street network parking to cater for apartments, townhouses, flats or units, and onsite parking is considered as part of the Planning approval for the development in line with the state government approved planning controls.

Existing on-street parking is needed for safe access, visitor parking, and long-term residents in detached houses that pre-date the designation of Ringwood as a Ringwood Metropolitan Activity Area.

Permit conditions

Permits do not exempt you from:

  • restrictions that limit parking to less than 1 hour
  • stopping in prohibited parking spaces or areas, including clearways and other areas in which parking of vehicles is prohibited under the Victorian Road Traffic Regulations.

Permit conditions may change at any time – if you are impacted by this you will be advised in writing.

Permits are issued for a maximum of 12 months and expire on 30 June each year.
