Wyreena room hire and facilities

Originally built in the early 1920s as an elegant family estate, and later converted to a convent, Wyreena is now a dynamic Community Arts Centre which is much loved by visitors from across Melbourne.

Wyreena offers some great opportunities for your next party, picnic, wedding or special event. Heritage buildings, a beautiful park environment and the unique PlaySpace for children provide a range of settings for families and groups to come together.

Permanent rental groups include the School of Philosophy, Croydon School of Dance and community radio station Eastern FM–98.1 FM.

Gardens for gatherings, weddings and celebrations 

Small groups and community use

Wyreena’s gardens are available for free community use such as small picnics and informal gatherings of up to 20 people.

Please note the following are not permitted for free community use:

  • structures of any kind (eg: marquees and BBQs)
  • roping off or reserving spaces
  • reserving car spaces.

Larger gatherings

For larger gatherings of 20 or more you must have prior written approval from Wyreena. Fees may apply.

Wedding ceremonies

The gardens at Wyreena provide an idyllic setting for weddings.

Bookings are essential.

Conservatory Café 

The Conservatory Café is a delightful eatery located in the main building of Wyreena.

Overlooking the gardens and PlaySpace, it is ideal for coffee, cake, or a leisurely lunch. It is also available for private functions. The café is managed by Jopray Enterprises.

Catomore Hall 

This charming hall is set in the Wyreena gardens near the Wyreena PlaySpace.

  • Ideal for small to medium size functions.
  • Features polished floor boards, sink and microwave, heating and cooling.
  • Fully accessible.
  • Toilets.
  • Chairs and trestle tables available.

The Arts Lounge 

The Arts Lounge offers original work for sale by local artists and artisans. Located next to The Conservatory Café in the character filled main building at Wyreena, The Arts Lounge is a relaxed space with comfy seating for visitors to enjoy the artwork, sit and read; enjoy a coffee and cake from the Conservatory Café; or catch up with a friend.

It’s also a delightful venue for evening workshops, writers’ groups, book clubs, or meetings. It is available for weekend hire for those holding functions in The Conservatory Café.
