Blazing Trails

Fusing cricket and art in a vibrant display of movement and energy, Blazing Trails celebrates the female-centred design of Maroondah Edge to evoke a sense of breaking boundaries and forging new paths. Including both indoor and outdoor components, the artwork combines bold brushstrokes with abstracted cricket players to suggest the trajectory of a cricket ball. This creative interpretation of the sport inspires a sense of adventure and innovation.

Maroondah Edge is an indoor cricket training centre in Ringwood designed to support inclusive, gender equitable facilities and club environments. Designed with the specific needs of women and girls in mind, it services training of local and regional cricketers of all levels and abilities, coach and player development, and community participation.

The collaborative team at Melbourne’s Murals includes Brigitte Dawson, Melissa Turner and Shane Dawson. With several decades of immersion in the Melbourne street art scene, Melbourne's Murals have completed numerous outdoor paintings in addition to cover art for albums, billboards and documentaries. During the Covid 19 pandemic, their Frontline Heroes series depicting health workers as the Greek God Atlas gained global recognition. The team have a wide-ranging ability to paint in a variety of styles including realism, abstraction, portraiture and graphic design.
