Road & Pathway Condition Assessment

Council has a local road network of 480km, a carpark network covering over 230,000m2 and a pathway and right of way network of 740km.

New footpaths and the Principal Pedestrian Network

We use the Principal Pedestrian Network to identify where new footpaths are needed and plan for their construction.

Gravel and unmade roads

Council is responsible for the management of unmade and partially constructed roads in Maroondah. You can report any hazards associated with our roads to Council by calling 1300 88 22 33.

Register of public roads

The Register contains a comprehensive list of the Public Roads within Maroondah that Council has a statutory requirement to inspect, maintain and repair in accordance with our Road Management Plan.

Declared roads

A declared road is a freeway or an arterial road referred to in VicRoads Register of Public Roads.

Roadworks

In addition to routine maintenance activities such as pothole repairs, patching and crack-sealing, Council has budgetary allocations within its annual capital works program for major road works.

Signals and street lighting

Signs and line marking

Council is responsible for signs and line marking on Council roads across Maroondah.

To undertake works on Council-owned roads, footpaths or nature strips, builders and contractors are required to have a Temporary Traffic Management Permit (formerly named a Road and Footpath Closure Permit) before works commence.

Street addressing

Maroondah City Council is responsible for naming new roads, changing road names if a need arises, and allocating numbers to properties within Maroondah.
