Planning our city
There are a number of planning tools to inform the form and future locations of developments. These are required to be considered in decision-making by Council and should therefore be considered by applicants and interested parties when considering planning permits.
Areas to be considered include:
- Plan Melbourne, the Victorian Government’s metropolitan planning strategy that will guide the city’s growth to 2050
- the Maroondah Planning Scheme, which establishes the expectations and restrictions on development. It does so through the application of local policies, planning zones, and overlays
- Other strategies and studies that will inform the future development of Maroondah Planning Scheme, including the Maroondah Housing Strategy, which guides future residential development to protect and enhance the areas we live while meeting our housing needs through to 2040.
