playground with slide and climbing wall

The playground upgrade at Longview Reserve located in Shane Crescent, Croydon South is now complete.

Works have been undertaken to provide inclusive structural play elements that promote physical activity, social interactions, problem solving, risk taking, lead and follow, inclusion, cooperation and sharing.

Completed features include:

  • 1 play unit, including 2 slides and a climbing element suitable for junior and teenage play
  • 2 bay swing unit
  • 2 standalone elements such as a spinner and rocker
  • Basketball/netball court renewal
  • Half court area extended in length, with new basketball and netball rings
  • Existing reserve seating has been retained, with natural rocks increasing seating opportunities
  • Footpath from Shane Crescent through to the half court is concrete paved, with flat entry to the playspace.

Bright colours have been chosen for the play elements, embracing the nearby Cheong Wildflower Sanctuary, with a theme of 'Wildflowers'. This is incorporated into the playspace area via bright colours, art panels and flower/leaf soft fall pads.
