As part of the Victorian Government's Level Crossing Removal Project, the level crossing at Bedford Road has been removed.
The Bedford Road level crossing in Ringwood has been removed as part of the Victorian Level Crossing Removal Project.
Construction began in early 2023 and the road opened in March 2024, with ancillary works continuing.

The Victorian Government undertook community consultation on the initial draft concept designs in February and March 2022. This consultation saw the concept designs updated to include a shared walking and cycling path connecting the Heathmont Rail Trail to Bedford Park.
