Maroondah Police Seniors Register
Helping you feel safe and confident
The Register is a free program run by volunteers to help seniors living in Maroondah feel safe and connected to their community. A Council-run initiative, the program aims to give residents, relatives and friends peace of mind, knowing that someone is watching out for their welfare.
Members of the register receive fortnightly or monthly calls from volunteers, who provide a 'safe and well' check and social connection. The register also contains emergency contact details, such as next of kin or a regular doctor, that can be used to contact key people if there are concerns for the welfare of the person.
Joining the register
Members of the register enter emergency contact details, such as next of kin or a regular doctor, that can be used to contact key people if there are concerns for their welfare. New members receive a welcome letter and a registration card containing a unique number.
A volunteer will then telephone new members to provide them with safety information.
People on the register can also be supported and connected with social opportunities and updated on local information about activities and important topics, such as safety.

How does the register work?
Volunteers will contact you on a fortnightly or monthly basis, as agreed, to provide a 'safe and well' check and social connection.
If a phone call and follow-up calls are not answered within a specified timeframe, your nominated emergency contact is notified.
If this person cannot be contacted or is unable to respond, local police officers may be asked to check on your wellbeing.
