Uncle John Baxter

Activist Uncle John Baxter is a Latji Latji and Narungga man.

Alongside his work advocating for Stolen Generations survivors, Uncle John is strongly involved in representing and supporting those living with a disability, and has produced many works documenting his experience with Spina bifida.

His list of achievements include:

  • Served on the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission's Disability Reference Group from 2014-2016
  • Committee Member of the Disability Portfolio Reference Group for the Victoria Police
  • Written, produced and directed five short films for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
  • President of the Committee of Management of the Koorie Night Market Inc.
  • and inducted on to the Victorian Aboriginal Honour Roll in 2016.
