The Aged Care Assessment Service is a Commonwealth funded program which assists older people, and their carers identify what kind of care will best meet their needs. ACAS teams assess older people for eligibility for Australian Government subsidised residential and respite care, home care packages and transition care. ACAS teams also provide information on suitable care options and can arrange referral to appropriate services.
