Ngarrang Gulinj-al Boordup: Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Team
Ngarrang Gulinj-al Boordup is a culturally holistic service that provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families an opportunity to belong and receive quality health and wellbeing support. Our Health and Wellbeing service supports the individual and family's wellness journey by educating and promoting healthy sustainable lifestyles, whilst providing the necessary tools to make beneficial lifestyle changes.
Ngarrang Gulinj-al Boordup acknowledges that culture is central to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander wellbeing and whilst our approach is focused towards supporting these Communities, it is inclusive of non-Indigenous members of the family. This aligns with our holistic focus of building strength and self-determination in health and supporting equitable access to ensure individuals and families thrive.
Our Current Services include:
Aboriginal Health Promotion and Chronic Care (AHPACC)
Our Team works across the whole lifespan providing health activities and education sessions to support community in enhancing their knowledge and achieving optimal health and wellbeing. This includes: Health Check Days, Health and Wellbeing Days, Vaccination Clinics, and Education Sessions examples include Diabetes and Chronic Health Conditions.
Integrated Team Care (ITC)
Our Care Coordinator and Outreach worker collaboratively work together to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have chronic health conditions with:
- Access to allied health and community programs (including external referrals to service providers
- Transport to and from specialist appointments
- Outreach support
Diabetes Education
Our Diabetes Educator works alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have diabetes supporting them in being able to care for their health. We offer: Health Coaching, Individual Appointments, and Group Activities/Programs
Aboriginal Health Promotion
Our Aboriginal Health Promotion Officer provides preventative programs focused on cultural health and wellbeing for young people. Programs we offer in schools include:
- Journey Tracks Cultural Health and Wellbeing Program
- Deadly Tukka: Nutritional Education
- Bunjils Mirring Nganga-Djak: Indigenous Eye Health Program
We also offer once-off community-based workshops for people across the lifespan.
Indigenous GP Clinic
Our Indigenous GP Clinic is open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community and their families. We offer:
- Indigenous Health Checks
- Individualised Health Care Plans
- Referrals and Follow up Care
- General Health Check Ups
- Medical Acupuncture
- Laser Therapy
- Cultural Support
