Kilsyth Scottish Country Dance Group Inc

You don’t need to be a Scot to enjoy this lively, social type of dancing that has been popular in Scotland for centuries, and is now practiced throughout the world by people of all races and nationalities.

  • SCD is suitable for men, women and children of all ages.
  • SCD is mainly danced socially, for pure pleasure, and exercise - both physical & mental!
  • SCD is usually done in groups (called sets) with typically 3, 4, or 5 couples arranged either in two lines (men facing ladies) or in a square, working together to dance a sequence of formations.  This does not mean that you need to come with a partner.   Many singles dance Scottish.
  • SCD should not be confused with Highland dances like the Fling, which is a solo dance for competition or display.

Please wear flat soft soled shoes and a bring a water bottle.

  • Classes run from March to November
  • Classes for Beginners - Monday 8pm to 10pm
  • As we meet Out of Business Hours, you may need to press the Senior's Citizens bell located on the wall, to the right of front door, and someone will let you in.
