Making inclusion a reality not a dream

Next date: Monday, 22 July 2024 | 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM

Anthony Semann

Creating programs and environments that support children to thrive.

The new Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF V2.0) update includes a focus on inclusion, recognising that all children have the right to participate in quality and inclusive early childhood settings, regardless of their circumstances, strengths, gender, capabilities or diverse ways of doing and being. However sometimes the way we talk about inclusion would convince the onlooker that this is easy to achieve. In reality inclusion is a challenging concept to bring into practice.

In this presentation we will explore, debate and unpack ideas related to :

  • How might we create respectful responsive relationships with all, not some children.
  • How can we support children to thrive in ECEC - rather than preparing children for school and beyond.
  • How do we ensure inclusion and its practical application in mixed age groups.
  • What does it mean to celebrate diversity in authentic ways.
