Water Sensitive City Strategy
The Maroondah Water Sensitive City Strategy supports a clean, green and sustainable Maroondah over the next 10 years.
The strategy addresses key directions in Maroondah 2040: Our future together, such as:
- ensuring the long-term protection and rehabilitation of the city's waterways and wetlands to improve water quality and streamflow
- advocating for increased stormwater harvesting and greywater reuse by households and businesses.
A new approach to water management
New approaches to water management are required to address issues of drought, flooding, water security and maintaining Maroondah’s green and leafy landscapes.
The strategy outlines how Council can collaborate with key water managers and the community to help attain 4 key outcomes:
- healthy environments
- water valued by all
- a collaborative culture
- resilient places.
The strategy complements the Maroondah Sustainability Strategy and will be reviewed in 2020, with a new strategy to be prepared in 2025.
