Immunisation

What is immunisation?

Immunisation is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting individuals and the community as a whole against potentially debilitating diseases. Immunisation uses the body's natural defence mechanism - the immune response - to build resistance to specific infections. The risks involved with contracting one of these diseases is far greater than the very small risks of immunisation against the disease.

Maroondah City Council is dedicated to providing a safe, convenient service and aims to achieve the best immunisation coverage possible, and our immunisation service is quality accredited.

Parents can feel confident of a safe and effective immunisation knowing that Council’s Immunisation Service has full accreditation in compliance with AS/NZS ISO9001:2008 Quality Standards.

Immunisation sessions

Maroondah City Council provides regular free morning and evening public immunisation sessions for babies, pre-school children and adults. Our experienced immunisation nurses provide simultaneous injections to minimise discomfort. These sessions are hosted at various public venues within the Maroondah community.

Vaccines

To ensure we are providing a comprehensive service and in addition to providing free immunisations based on the national program, Maroondah's team offers other vaccinations on a user pays basis and strives to keep informed of all vaccine developments of both a medical and governmental nature.
