Habitat Corridors Strategy

The goal of the Habitat Corridors Strategy is to plan for a network of habitat links connecting with larger areas of remnant vegetation in order to protect and enhance biodiversity within and beyond the City of Maroondah.

The Strategy identifies seventeen main vegetation corridors or corridor types through public and private land. It includes action plans to strengthen and develop existing or potential links throughout Maroondah and into adjoining municipalities. The Strategy will provide detailed guidance for Council when considering development applications and for local environment groups on-ground activities.

Improving vegetation corridors with the involvement of Council, community groups, private landholders and relevant authorities offers opportunities to enhance our local environment and our relationships with each other as we work towards common goals. Many local environment groups have been consulted during production of the Strategy.
