Existing premises

Considering purchasing a registered business?

If you are buying an existing business, whether a food business or a hairdressing salon, beauty salon, tattooist establishment, ear or body piercing establishment, or an accommodation facility, you will need to transfer the registration into your name. Application forms can be obtained by contacting Council's Community Health Services on telephone 1300 88 22 33. A transfer fee is applicable.

If you are considering buying a registered premises you may wish to arrange for Council's Environmental Health Officers to inspect the premises and report to you on whether there are any orders or items that require rectification. Any release of information is subject to the Information Privacy Act 2000.

There is a fee for such an inspection. Please contact Maroondah City Council's Community Health Services for more details.

Any new proprietor of a Class 1 or 2 food premises is required to have a Food Safety Program and Food Safety Supervisor. A Food Safety Program Template suitable for Class 2 businesses can be obtained from  the Victorian Government Bookshop for a fee, or online for free at Department of Health.
