Eastern Transport Coalition

Maroondah City Council is one of seven outer eastern metropolitan Councils that form the Eastern Transport Coalition (ETC). The ETC advocates for sustainable and integrated transport services with the goal of reducing the level of car dependency to help secure the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of Melbourne's outer east.

The ETC advocacy program has been successful in the abolition of Zone 3 from the metropolitan public transport ticketing system. The ETC is continuing to advocate for improvements across a range of public transport issues.

The main Eastern Transport Coalition projects of critical importance to Maroondah are:

  • Triplication of the rail line between Box Hill and Ringwood
  • Extension of bus frequency and operating hours
  • Inclusion of major bus routes on Premium Bus Network .

The ETC aims to work in partnership with Federal and State Governments to ensure the future sustainability of Eastern Melbourne.
