Eastern Region Active Travel Forum

The Eastern Region Active Travel forum was successfully held on 7 September 2016. The forum was an opportunity to bring schools together to discuss and share opportunities to enhance active travel programs.

Representatives from 30 primary schools where addressed by Tara Watson from Active Connected Community on the revival of active travel to school and the importance of school active travel programs.

Further insights on locally effective active travel planning, initiatives and strategies were provided by eight local primary school guest presenters.

A wide variety of topics were covered and each presentation was unique, informative, and compelling. Interschool sharing and networking has spread successful initiatives and depend the understanding of applying active travel programs. An exhibition space provided an opportunity to find out more about active travel and health programs provided by Bicycle Network, VicRoads, VicHealth, Sustainability Victoria, and Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning (EASL).

Feedback from attending schools indicated that the forum was valuable, inspiring and there was interest in a repeated in the future.
