Maroondah City Council is installing a new footbridge across the Mullum Mullum Creek at Glen Cairn Avenue, Ringwood.

The new $65,000 bridge will replace an aging timber structure and will provide a wider non-slip deck and a more robust all steel structure.

Work on the project commenced on Monday 5 June, with signage and detours in place while the old bridge is removed and new bridge installed.

While installing the new bridge, Council is also taking the opportunity to realign the pathways leading to the bridge to improve the levels, smooth the bends, and create wider openings at both access points.

For people using the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail, alternate safe crossing of the creek can be made at Oliver Street, Leonard Street and Oban Road.

Weather permitting the works will be finished and the new bridge will be open for pedestrians and cyclists by Wednesday 5 July.
