Festival 2017

Roll up! Roll up! Expressions of Interest are now being taken for involvement in this year’s Maroondah Festival, which will be held on Sunday 12 November.

Maroondah Councillor Mike Symon said local community groups and service providers that are keen to be part of this year’s festival must submit an Expression of Interest form by Friday 30 June.

“Maroondah Festival is the biggest community event on the Maroondah calendar. Typically, more than 30,000 people attend and more than 120 community groups and organisations take part. It’s a great way for groups to raise awareness of what they offer and to fundraise,” said Cr Symon.

“Maroondah Festival is all about having fun and highlighting the best of our community. In 2016, there was a diverse range of community-run activities at Maroondah Festival # from well-being and sustainability workshops and expos, to cultural dance and food demonstrations, as well as performances by local bands, dance troupes and primary schools. I’m sure that 2017 will include some equally fantastic displays,” said Cr Symon.

“Community groups should also note that Council offers a Maroondah Festival grants program. Groups can apply for funding to produce a fun and interactive activity for the event, such as craft workshops, ‘come and try’ sports activities, guest speakers, music-based activities and more,” said Cr Symon.

“Council will contribute up to $500 from a total pool of $2500, to eligible groups that meet the selection criteria, and grant applications are due by Friday 28 July,” said Cr Symon.
