Co-working spaces are gaining popularity with businesses around the globe, and for good reason.

With advances in online technology and less time spent at a personal desk, more and more people are gravitating towards collaborative working hubs in search of networking opportunities, flexibility and improved productivity.

BizHub at Realm, in Ringwood Town Square, is a professional co-working environment that provides a dynamic, cost-effective option for local entrepreneurs, start-ups and microbusinesses seeking an innovative way to do business.

Reduced overheads, state-of-the-art technologies, high-speed internet, and not having to sign a major lease are other reasons why businesses are flocking to co-working spaces.

At BizHub’s Co-Working Space workers can utilise the space for little as a day, a month, or longer, as well as have access to a multitude of tools and resources such as training and meeting rooms, digital lab, presentation nooks, film and sound recording studios, just to name a few.

Maroondah Deputy Mayor and representative on the Maroondah Business Advisory Committee, Councillor Nora Lamont said collaborative working spaces like BizHub had already helped countless businesses.

“The whole host of features and facilities at BizHub are giving these businesses access to the resources they need to succeed.”

How is it helping local businesses?

Visual Business Analytics, which helps businesses gather, transform and visualise their data, is one of a growing number of local businesses switching from the traditional 9-5 office norm in favour of a more flexible, creative co-working space.

Managing Consultant and owner Mark McArdle said the co-working space at BizHub provided a balance for the self-employed who wanted to shift between working from home while having the modern conveniences of an office, when they needed it.

“The work space itself provides the opportunity for networking, which is valuable for businesses that are either starting up or that are relatively new,” Mr McArdle said.

Having the support services including business training, mentoring, space for presentations and meetings was also a major drawcard, he said, describing it as “a really strong initiative by the Council to help foster business and small business growth in the area”.

“It provides great opportunity for new and developing businesses to have access to great facilities, as well as meeting like-minded businesses and individuals,” Mr McArdle added.

“Small businesses are the beating heart of our local economy and we as a Council continue to support and build the right environments in order for them to thrive,” Cr Lamont said.
