Toe-tapping Tuesdays at Karralyka

5 May 2017

Add some music to your mornings with live stage acts by well-known and seasoned performers, as well as some up-and-coming stars that will be sure to have your toes tapping.

Acclaimed cabaret performer Michael Griffiths returns to Karralyka in his totally convincing portrayal of great American composer and songwriter Cole Porter, in Cole.

A sharp and sophisticated tribute to Cole Porter’s life, Griffiths delivers Porter’s timeless tunes with ease, weaving classics like Night and Day and Let’s Do It both in song and piano-accompanied monologues around Anna Goldsworthy’s cleverly written script.

Councillor Mike Symon said Council was proud to bring such high-quality entertainment to the local community.

“We have a proud tradition at Karralyka of bringing high-calibre theatre performers and productions to the local community and beyond, and this season is no exception,” Cr Symon said.

“Seniors, in particular, appreciate the Karralyka not only for its social aspect but because they’re able to access affordable, top-quality entertainment so close to home, without having to travel into the city.”

KarralykaNan Boyd, 91 years young, said she’d been attending shows at Karralyka for as long as the venue had been running.

“I love coming to the shows and it’s something that I look forward to every month,” she said.

Margaret, a member of Bayswater North Ladies Probus Club, said the group would often book shows a year in advance.

“We book as a group, with normally 5-10 women coming along. As soon as the shows are announced we book for the whole year. It’s especially good for the older ones as they don’t have to travel a long way to see the shows,” Margaret said.

Be sure to get your#seats early before they fill up for Toe Tapping Tuesdays, with shows featuring everything from musical theatre and Broadway, to operetta and new takes on old classics.

Cole is coming to Karralyka on Tuesday 9 May at 10.30am. For bookings to this and other shows, visit Karralyka's website or phone 9870 2888. Ticket prices include morning tea 45 minutes prior to each show, starting at 9.45am.
